East LA Standoff Ends Peacefully After Eight Hours

An eight-hour standoff in East Los Angeles came to a peaceful resolution Saturday evening when a man suspected of assault with a deadly weapon surrendered to sheriff’s deputies. The tense situation unfolded on Gleason Street, near the intersection of the Pomona (60) and Long Beach (710) freeways, starting around 12:30 p.m.

Evacuations and Negotiations

As a precaution, authorities evacuated surrounding homes to ensure the safety of residents in the immediate vicinity. A specially trained Crisis Negotiation Team was deployed to the scene, attempting to establish communication with the suspect and persuade him to surrender peacefully.
