Kolkata: East Bengal defeated North East United by five goals in ISL. Clayton Silva and Nandakumar scored twice to give East Bengal a resounding win at home.
East Bengal put out a performance that neutralized the North East defense throughout the game. East Bengal took the lead in the 14th minute through Borha Herrera. Clayton Silva then extended their lead in the 24th minute.
After leading by two goals in the first half, East Bengal continued to score in the second half. Substitute Nandakumar scored the third goal for East Bengal in the 62nd minute. Silva made it two goals in the 66th minute. Nestor Albiak also missed Northeast’s chance to find a consolation goal with a penalty awarded in injury time. The star’s kick hit the bar and returned.
In the 81st minute, Nandakumar completed the scoring for East Bengal. Despite the win, East Bengal are seventh with eight points from seven games. North East United are sixth with nine points.
