Easing in Europe +++ Vaccine for small children in the USA is delayed

In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH reported 22,221 new coronavirus infections in 77,719 tests on Friday. At the same time, the BAG registered 18 new deaths and 137 hospital admissions.

On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 33,386 confirmed new infections, 167 hospital admissions and 18 deaths. The number of cases fell by 33.4 percent within a week. Hospital admissions decreased by 18 percent compared to the previous week.

There are currently a total of 683 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 79.10 percent. 23.10 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

In the past four weeks, 9,791.07 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections have been reported per 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 0.81 around ten days ago.

68.52 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 1.47 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 77.81 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 40.70 percent of the general population and 75.28 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.
