Earthquake within the Polisario: Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, his representative in Europe, slams the door

The disintegration of the Polisario never ceases to increase. Last blow to date, its so-called representative in Europe and with the European Union, Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, has just resigned from his post. He justified his decision by “deep disagreements” with Polisario leader Brahim Ghali.

It is on his Twitter account that the now former representative of the Polisario in Europe, Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, announced on Wednesday evening, December 14, 2022, his resignation from his post, adding that he retains his elected mandate within the direction of the Polisario, mandate which expires on January 13, 2013, and for which he affirms, in another tweet, that he will not stand once more.

Which means that, in a few days, he also resigns from all the instances of the Polisario.

“After a request submitted several months ago, today I submitted my resignation in writing to the Secretary General of the Polisario from my position “in charge of Europe and the EU“. I thanked him for having confidence in me, but deep disagreements with him on the vision and the methods forced me to make this difficult decision”, he wrote in this tweet.

The resigner thus explains that he made his decision since June 25, 2022, when he first asked to be relieved of his mission in Europe, before officially notifying it in writing to the leader of the Polisario, Brahim Ghali, on June 14 December 2022.

The departure of Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, one of the most important leaders of the Polisario, which he has represented, since 2001, successively in South Africa, Nigeria, London, Ireland, The Hague, then with the European Union, created an earthquake within the separatist movement. This act clearly reveals the increasingly manifest loss of support for the separatist movement, and particularly in Europe, where the holding of the conference of Polisario supporters (Eucoco) in Berlin on December 2 was a total fiasco. Many countries and guest personalities were absent subscribers when they did not openly express their refusal to participate in the meeting of this empty shell that is Eucoco.

It was therefore the scathing diplomatic setbacks of the Polisario throughout the world, despite the reinforcement of the windfall of petrodollars generously distributed by the Algerian regime, which forced Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, the most publicized separatist in recent times and who was beginning to make competition with Brahim Ghali, to “lay down arms”.

But it remains to be seen whether Oubi Bouchraya (52), a native of Zouerate in Mauritania, who grew up and studied in Tindouf, then in Spain, resigned on his own or under the pressure of remonstrances from his Algerian employers who are trying thus to make him assume their obvious failure to sell a product that no longer deceives anyone.
