Mexico It has been characterized as one of the countries with the greatest seismic and volcanic activity on the planet, since its proximity to the Pacific Ring of Firea geological fault that triggers movements and friction between plates, puts you in that category.
According to experts in the field and the historical record, the states of the Republic where the most tremors have originated are: Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Colima and Jalisco.
However, this does not mean that any part of the national territory is exempt from becoming an epicentersometimes coming to stand out for its uniqueness, such is the case of earthquakes originated within the capital of the country.

The National Seismological Service (SSN), operated by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), reported through its website and social networks that the night of wednesday december 7 an earthquake with an epicenter was registered within the limits of Mexico City.
According to the agency, the tremor of magnitude 1.7 originated at 9:12 p.m., two kilometers southwest of the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office.

The earthquake had a depth of five kilometers, and according to the SSN, it was located at latitude 19.40º and longitude -99.12º, that is, between the Congreso de la Union avenue and Emilio de Carranza streettwo blocks from the Santa Anita terminal station, on line 4 of the Metro.
For their part, digital warning systems SASSLA and SkyAlert also gave notice to their users regarding the movement, sharing in turn maps that illustrate the exact location of the epicenter.
Until now, the government of Mexico City, the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office and the Secretary for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection have not ruled on the matter.
