Earthquake Weather Homes Insured Up 6.3% From 2023

The above results from the quarterly survey conducted by the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece (EAEE) to record the number of home insurance contracts, with the aim of monitoring the trend and understanding the impact of actions to cover the protection gap through private insurance residence.

The new EAEE survey concerns contracts that were in force on 31 March 2024 and collected data on 1,166,065 contracts (versus 1,159,332 contracts in force on 31 December 2023).

In detail, of the insured dwellings with building cover, those insured for weather and earthquake were 555,341 in the first quarter of 2024, that is (55.8% of the total), those insured for earthquake only were 251,194 (25.3% of the total) , those insured only for weather phenomena were 144,764 (14.6% of the total), with mortgage interest 605,532 (60.9% of the total) and only in Attica are 455,646 contracts (45.8% of the total).

Insured houses for weather phenomena and earthquake show an increase of 6.3% in relation to the survey on 12/31/2023. This had the effect of increasing their participation in all building insurance policies, to 55.8% from 52.4% on 12/31/2023.
