Moscow: A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck off the eastern coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula near Avacha Bay. The earthquake struck around 3 pm local time on Monday. No casualties or extensive damage were reported. No tsunami warning. The Kamchatka Peninsula is located in the Far East, 6,800 km from Moscow. Its 19 active volcanoes are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
