An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 was registered tonight in the Arequipa region, reported the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP).
The event occurred at 8:35 p.m., which had its epicenter 29 kilometers north of Chala, Caravelí province, the IGP National Seismological Center reported on its Twitter account.
He specified that the telluric movement had a depth of 92 kilometers.

The local authorities of the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) have not yet reported personal or material damage due to the earthquake that occurred this morning.
In cases of earthquake, the Indeci authorities recommend acting calmly and identifying safe areas inside and outside the home, in order to avoid regrettable personal injuries.
In addition, they advise having an emergency backpack containing tools, a portable radio and non-perishable canned food staples.
Peru is located in the area called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where approximately 85% of the world’s seismic activity is recorded.
