An earthquake was felt in Patras a few minutes ago.
More specifically, a magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred a few minutes before 10:30 p.m. on Friday night in Chalandritsa, Achaia.
The earthquake had a focal depth of 6.4 km.
The earthquake was particularly felt in Patras and the wider area.
What does Lekkas say regarding the earthquake?
The 4.5 Richter earthquake that broke out a while ago in Achaia was superficial, according to what the seismologist and president of OASP, Efthymis Lekkas, told Newsbomb.gr.
Specifically, the earthquake broke out at a point between Kalavryta and Chalandritsa and was felt in the surrounding areas as well as in Patras.
According to Efthymis Lekkas, the remarkable thing is that there is no high seismicity at this point, nor are there any large outbreaks.
Efthymis Lekkas finally stated that “we are monitoring the progress of the earthquake”, while appearing reassuring.
The epicenter of the earthquake, according to the Geodynamic Institute of Athens, was located 12 kilometers southeast of Chalandritsa, while the focal depth was estimated at 7.3 kilometers.
