Earthquake Event in Japan: University of Tokyo’s Earthquake Research Institute Reports Coastline Movement in Ishikawa Prefecture

Local Japanese media reported the findings of the University of Tokyo’s Earthquake Research Institute that Earthquake event in Japan during New Year As a result, the coastline in Ishikawa Prefecture has moved out to sea. It is approximately 250 meters away from the original line.

The institute said the cause of the coastline’s movement was due to the elevation of the beach surface near Kaiso Fishing Port, Wajima City.

Surveys have found that the beach in that area has risen more than 3 meters along the coastline, which is regarding 4 km long, all the way to the south of the fishing port. which has a level of elevation of the beach floor of approximately 3.9 meters

This coastal survey took place on January 3, 2024, with Professor Tatsuya. Ishiyama from the Earthquake Research Institute led the team.
