According to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe, the first of these two earthquakes can be qualified as moderate despite a magnitude of 5.6.

The epicenter of the second earthquake felt at 7:22 a.m. was located 2 km east of Grand Bourg de Marie-Galante, 103 km deep.

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe qualifies this second earthquake as light and because of its epicenter, very close to the island of Marie-Galante, it was particularly in Marie-Galante that it was felt.
