In order to increase the purchasing power of their customers, some French banks are setting up cashback systems which allow us, the consumers, to recover 1% to 15% of the amount spent during our purchases on the Internet or in store.
Do you know what cashback is?
Cashback is the famous rewards system that allows you to be reimbursed for some of your purchases. Banks, especially online banks like Kard, love this system and keep pushing it.
In the form of vouchers, refunds, promotions or exclusive offers, you can recover part of your expenses from various partner brands.
For a few years now these banks have not hesitated to propose their own offers to maintain fierce competition within this sector.
The Banque Postale: the latest in the sector
After BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, LCL and SG (ex-Societe Generale), another major brand has just announced its cashback offer this week: La Banque Postale.
“For any purchase made in one of the partner brands, online or in store, the customer will automatically benefit from a cashback, that is to say a discount, on the amount of his expenses and will be able to accumulate money with each purchase in a kitty accessible from its cashback program,” explains La Banque Postale.
While inflation continues to eat away at our purchasing power, cashback is a solution that can allow you to obtain deferred reimbursement of some of your expenses.
Réalys card: a new service
La Banque Postale now offers its customers holding Réalys cards (Visa Classic, Visa Premier, Visa Platinum or Visa Infinite) the possibility of taking out a free, no-commitment subscription. This service is accessible from its online customer area or via the mobile application.
Very popular brands
“Consume better” is the formula devised by La Banque Postale to promote its new programme. This translates into partnerships with brands that offer more responsible products, such as Naturalia, committed to organic farming, or Nature & Découverte or Yves Rocher, long committed to the fight once morest climate change.
Everyone is free to consider this argument or see it as greenwashing. Other more traditional brands are also planned, such as Carrefour, Auchan, Leroy Merlin, Marionnaud, Fnac, Darty, Vertbaudet and La Redoute.
The possibility of donating your kitty to associations
The cashback is available from 5 euros valid, the customer can pay his gain into his current account at La Banque Postale, or the account of a third party holder of a current account at La Banque Postale, such as the account of his child for example.
You will also be able to donate your earnings in the form of a donation to La Banque Postale’s partner associations, such as the League for the Protection of Birds or the Restos du Cœur association. Another option: convert your kitty to contribute to a reforestation project in France.
How much is the cashback?
Discounts vary by partner and can be in the form of a percentage or a maximum fixed amount.
For example, Carrefour offers new customers €3.50 cashback for online food purchases. For new customers, this amount increases to €6.90 on the CoursesU.com site.
Otherwise, Castorama offers a 2.8% refund on your purchase.
For discount hunters, as well as for all French people who want to make small savings, these cashback offers can allow you to earn a few tens or even a few hundred euros per year if you do well. And then as they say, there are no small savings.
