If a tumor in the stomach is detected early, the chances of recovery are good. If you notice the typical signs for more than four to eight weeks, you should have them checked out by a doctor.
In Germany, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) regarding 5,746 women and 9,131 men a year from gastric cancer. On average, men are affected at the age of 71 and women at the age of 76 – the risk of the disease increases with age. Although the chances of recovery are quite good if the tumor is discovered early, the warning signs of the disease are often not correctly interpreted by those affected and the visit to the doctor takes place very late. Around two thirds of all cases of the disease are only discovered at an advanced and inoperable stage.
This makes it all the more important to pay attention to possible signs and symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, especially if they last longer than four to eight weeks, like this German Cancer Society enlightens.

However, such symptoms do not always mean that a tumor disease of the stomach is present. All complaints can also have harmless causes. But this can only be determined by an appropriate examination for diagnostics – so it’s better to go to the doctor once too many times than not at all.
