Causes Colon cancer occurs when changes arise in the DNA, where healthy cells grow and divide to keep the body’s functions functioning normally. Although when DNA is damaged and cancer develops, cells continue to divide even when no new cells are needed, and the cells aggregate and form a large tumor. Symptoms A permanent change in bowel movement. A change in the daily bowel habit, whether diarrhea or constipation, or a change in stool consistency. Presence of anal bleeding. Noticing blood in the stool. The most common symptoms: the presence of persistent abdominal disturbances. Painful cramps, gas, or pain. Feeling that the bowel is not completely empty. Weakness or fatigue. Unexplained weight loss. Factors that increase the risk of infection: The elderly, that is, those over the age of 50. People with inflammatory bowel diseases. People with ulcerative colitis are more likely to develop colon cancer. Having a family history of colon cancer. Follow a low-fiber, high-fat diet. People who eat diets rich in red meat and processed meat. People who are obese. Smokers are more likely to get colon cancer. Excessive alcohol use increases the risk of colon cancer.
