Without Alexander Schlager and Oumar Solet, who is about to leave for Hoffenheim, but with Karim Konaté, the FC Red Bull Salzburg team took off for Enschede, where they hope to take a step towards the Champions League on Tuesday.
Around 60 passengers were on the chartered plane of FC Red Bull Salzburg on the way to Enschede. The return match against Twente for a place in the Champions League play-off will take place there on Tuesday (7 p.m.). Karim Konaté was also there, somewhat surprisingly. The striker had pulled a ligament in his knee during the Bundesliga opener at the beginning of August and, according to the club, will be out for “several weeks”. It was all the more surprising that the 20-year-old Ivorian also made the trip to the Netherlands on Monday afternoon. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he will actually play. There was no word on that.
Solet as the next million dollar transfer
The same applies to questions about Oumar Solet. As expected, the 24-year-old central defender is not part of the team that goes into the second leg with a 2-1 lead. Solet is said to already be undergoing a medical check in Hoffenheim. For a transfer to the German Bundesliga club, where the Frenchman will face ÖFB team players Florian Grillitsch and Alexander Prass, the Bulls would generate revenue of up to ten million euros. Confirmation is expected in the coming days.
Schlager still not in the squad
And finally, Alexander Schlager has also drawn attention to himself in recent days. The ÖFB team goalkeeper, who had expressed his displeasure at being a reserve behind new goalie Janis Blaswich, has been integrated back into team training after his meniscus injury, but apparently it was not enough for a place in the squad on Tuesday. Schlager was not on board.
