The freshly crowned Cross World Champion Jakob Dusek was eliminated early on Friday in the first of two World Cup races in the Sierra Nevada. Instead of a qualification, there were heats, in his run the Lower Austrian missed the final of the best 32 in third place following a driving error in the lower part of the track.
“There have been a few shifts because the track was extremely hard and icy following yesterday’s rain and a drop in temperature during the night. So it wasn’t easy to keep up the excitement, but I still should have finished the run,” said Dusek, who wants to take his next chance on Sunday.
Three ÖSV men and one ÖSV lady further on
With Julian Lüftner, Luca Hämmerle and Andreas Kroh, three ÖSV men are involved in the decision on Saturday. In the women’s category, Lower Austria’s Pia Zerkhold advanced to the round of 16.
Lukas Pachner had to give up following a training crash on Thursday. The Viennese suffered a back contusion and wanted to travel home on Friday. Olympic champion Alessandro Hämmerle skips the World Cup following another concussion.
