Enter the New Orleans Saints Defensive Back C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles following contract extension talks collapsed. The NFL Network reports, citing sources.
The 24-year-old is entering the last year of his contract.
Gardner-Johnson is believed to be a full-time safety with the Eagles following New Orleans put him in a versatile role.
Gardner-Johnson was selected by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent the first three seasons of his career in New Orleans. He started in 31 games (with 12 other appearances) and recorded 161 tackles, three interceptions and 28 passes defended.
The Eagles made room for Gardner-Johnson in their secondary by firing Anthony Harris, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Harris, 30, started in 14 games last year.
