After Martin Solveig, Suzanne et Ringing, it was Eagle-Eye Cherry’s turn to perform in the Portes du Soleil ski area under the banner of Rock The Pistes. Friday March 17, 2023, it was the station of Châtel (F) which hosted the concert of the Swede whose hits “Save Tonight” or “Falling In Love Again” (published in 1998) are still in many heads. When he left the stage, the man was relaxed and a little smug. “It’s completely different from what I’m used to. Normally I play at night. It’s been a really long time since I last performed in the middle of the day. I loved seeing all these people in ski gear and sunglasses on their noses. The vibe was excellent. The public even tried to have me with snowballs, but I managed to dodge,” laughed the 54-year-old singer.

Funny anecdote, Eagle-Eye Cherry spent a holiday in the ski area in 2022: “Yes, I was here last year with my brother. At that time, I had no idea that I would come back to play it. It’s supercool.” Skiing, of course, came up. The singer refused to get on the slats before his concert. He will hurtle down the slopes on Saturday, “early in the morning”: “I didn’t want to break my leg before my show. I prefer to break it tomorrow!”

On the news side, he released his sixth album “Back On Track”, at the end of January 2023. “My plan was to enter the studio in early 2020, but the world stopped with the pandemic. I had to fret before I could get into the studio and finally get back on track (“Back On Track” in English). It’s also a way of saying that I’m back as an artist. I went through a period during which I wasn’t really sure I wanted to continue to be. I wanted to continue in music, but without being in the spotlight. I understood that I missed touring and playing on stage a lot, ”slipped Eagle-Eye Cherry, not without casting an admiring look at the mountains that surrounded her.
