EA continues to commit to Battlefield 2042

Although Battlefield 2042 did not meet the expectations of the community or of EA, EA does not want to give up the shooter for a long time. In a call to investors, CEO Andrew Wilson has now announced that they will continue to support the franchise and the current title as it plays an important role in the future of Electronic Arts games.

In addition, in a recent investor call, Wilson addressed, among other things, the replacement by Vince Zampella. Zampella will take care of the Battlefield brand at EA in the future and is now at the top of organizational responsibility for the Battlefield franchise.

Despite and probably also because of the setback, EA wants to plan with the Battlefield franchise “for the long term”. In addition to the plans, Wilson continues, the lesson should definitely also be paid to get Battlefield 2042 back on the right track. As soon as the course for Battlefield 2042 is right, you want to publish new content for the shooter.

“DICE has already made thousands of updates for the community working on the Quality of Life to get the core of the game right. I think there is still work to be done and the team is ready to do that work for the community – and once we feel like we’re on the right track with the core of the game, you can expect further investments that will game beyond where it is now.”
– EA CEO Andrew Wilson

New content can be expected with the start of the seasons. The start of the first season is expected in summer. According to the information that buyers and pre-orderers of the Ultimate and Gold Edition have received, in addition to a Battle Pass, which should be included free of charge in the Gold and Ultimate versions of Battlefield 2042 for the first year, there will also be one for each of the four planned seasons new specialists as well as three epic skin bundles.

DICE is still completely reticent about new content, such as maps and game modes in the All out Warfare game mode. While there are rumors about new maps, vehicles, weapons and other new content for the portal game mode, there are no official statements as to when and if this content can be expected.

Per season, we currently hope that DICE will deliver at least one new map for the All out Warfare part of Battlefield 2042 and Ripple Effect will make more content from old Battlefield titles accessible in Battlefield Portal.
