E3, the video game show, will be held online again in 2022, due to the pandemic

We will have to wait once more before hoping to set foot in the corridors of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Since 1995, E3 has been the annual meeting place for video game enthusiasts. Publishers and developers generally take advantage of this great mass to unveil their new projects or even discuss the progress of titles under development. Until 2019 in mid-June, visitors rush to visit the Los Angeles Convention Center to try out new video games.

But now, since the appearance of the coronavirus, the habits of gamers have been greatly upset. In June 2020, in full expansion of the pandemic, the organizers had outright decided to cancel it, while E3 2021 was a fully digital event, the first in history.

Unfortunately, it seems that we have to deal with a fully digital salon this year once more. Indeed, in an interview with GamesBeat, the organizers announced that they would prefer not to organize the event in person once more this year.

“Due to the continued health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held face-to-face in 2022. We remain incredibly excited regarding the future of the E3 and we look forward to announcing more details soon ”, they specify.

A decision that may come as a surprise, especially when you consider that the Consumer Electronic Show, held in Las Vegas, is currently taking place in physics. While the E3 organizers have not indicated how their show will be held this year, they did add that they were “Excited regarding the possibilities offered by an online event”.
