Graz Merkur Arena is currently being renovated at a cost of approximately 2.5 million euros. As City Councilor Manfred Eber reported on Wednesday, the away area is equipped with new glass dividing elements that provide a good view of the playing field, are pressure-resistant and difficult to climb. By early September, these barrier elements will also be installed on one side of the expanded GAK home area and on the north curve (home to Storm fans).
It also announced that the GAK division will implement a conversion from fixed seating to modular seating/standing space during the winter break. In order to better meet UEFA’s requirements, property has also been purchased close to the stadium’s garage entrance. Demolition notices for the top house will be issued in the coming weeks; the space gained will be used for coach parking and an expanded TV storage area. New turf has been laid in the stadium.
