E-sports monitor with 300 Hertz and mini LEDs

With the MEG 271Q, MSI has announced a new gaming monitor for esports that not only offers Nvidia Reflex and up to 300 Hertz, but also has a mini-LED backlight.

The recently introduced MSI MEG 271Q is a 27-inch Rapid IPS monitor with mini LEDs and, according to the manufacturer, the first of its kind in the world. The design is very reminiscent of the Oculux NXG253R (Test), also from MSI’s esports segment. The more than 1,000 mini LEDs in the backlight are divided into more than 500 local dimming zones, which benefits the HDR display. According to the VESA standard DisplayHDR1000 the monitor reaches a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits.

Nvidia Reflex in a WQHD monitor

The screen has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (WQHD), which is around 33 percent higher pixel density than the Full HD resolution common in e-sports monitors. Furthermore, according to MSI, it covers 97 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. The Rapid IPS panel offers a response time of just one millisecond and has an Nvidia module for Nvidia Reflex sowie G-Sync Ultimate.

The latter supports the full Hertz range of the monitor, i.e. zero to 300 Hertz. The so-called Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer however, measures and reduces system latency in games. It has recently been configured automatically.

The MSI MEG 271Q is one of four new esports monitors that Nvidia has advertised for the WQHD esports category at CES 2022. One of the special features of the new models is the improved vibrance mode, which benefits from the mini LEDs.

A 25-inch FHD monitor is available on request

Also integrated is a Dual-Format-Modus, with which the display can be digitally shrunk to 25 inches and Full HD. One RTX 3080 (Test) creates together with you Core i9-12900K (Test) In current competitive shooters, however, according to Nvidia, always over 360 frames per second in WQHD, which is why the switch to Full HD is no longer necessary for better performance.

Information on the price and availability of the monitor is currently not available. However, a price of over 1,000 euros cannot be ruled out.
