Workplace bullying broke out at South Korea’s “E-Land Group”, which owns more than 60 clothing brands. After a special investigation, the Korean Ministry of Labor announced today (22nd) that E-Land’s “E-Land World” forced hundreds of employees to perform at the end of the year , and forcing employees to practice dance during working hours, causing employees to have to work overtime to handle business and other illegal behaviors, will take strict measures and even judicial action once morest E-Land World.

Comprehensive Korean media reports, following receiving reports of suspected workplace bullying and harassment from E-Land World, South Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor set up a special labor inspection team in Gwanak-gu, Seoul to investigate E-Land World in accordance with the principle of “universal special investigation” and conducted on-site investigations. Later, it was determined that E-Land World’s behavior of forcing employees to practice dancing and perform tail-ya performances was illegal.

In order to welcome the end of the year, E-Land has always had a practice from the group president to branch employees to clean and iron clothes all night long. However, forcing employees to go to work to practice dancing, perform in groups, and work overtime in disguise violates Korean labor laws. South Korea’s Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jung-sik even stated that no matter what the reason is, workers will not be tolerated being bullied in the workplace or having their basic human rights violated.

In addition, this is the fifth special investigation conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor this year on workplace bullying and harassment. Last year, a company in its 30s was subject to special supervision because of extreme behavior committed by an employee in his 30s.
