E-cigarette smokers nearly double their risk of blindness.

Assoc.Prof.D.D.Ruengruedee Pathanwanich Department of Community Medicine Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital revealed that a study from the March issue of the American Journal of Ophthalmology journal examined the relationship between e-cigarette smoking and visual impairment in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine. University of California, Los Angeles The study was conducted in a population aged 18 years and over between 2016 and 2018, totaling 1,173,646 people. We analyzed the relationship between e-cigarette smokers and visual impairment. Other health risk factors were controlled. that affect visual impairment such as age, sex, ethnicity, income, body mass index, alcohol consumption history, mental health, including regular smoking

The study found that people who smokeelectronic cigarettewere 1.96 times more likely to have visual impairment than those who did not smoke e-cigarettes. The researchers speculated 3 reasons were:

3. The effect of nicotine in e-cigarettes constricts blood vessels. The blood supply to the eyes and optic nerve is reduced. Increase your risk of glaucoma.
