We want to give the Roma a voice through theater and culture. To reconcile our historical cultural differences, it is crucial that Roma and non-Roma know and recognize each other.
Simonida Selimović
Vienna (OTS) – The international theater festival E BISTARDE – FORGISS MEIN NOT takes over DSCHUNGEL VIENNA with productions, performances, an installation and a community concert until November 9th. Visitors are invited to engage with the themes of Roma and unheard voices in our history. E BISTARDE has a clear social message regarding education, awareness and strengthening a positive identity. Cultural diversity across and with Roma works towards harmonizing things within Roma communities as well as outside between the non-Roma majority and Roma communities. Simonida Selimović, one of the voices of the festival, explains its importance:
“We want to give the Roma a voice through theater and culture. To reconcile our historical cultural differences, it is crucial that Roma and non-Roma know and recognize each other.”
Curated and organized by Romano Svato, Association for Transcultural Communication.

SPACES OF MEMORIES
Installation by Luna De Rosa, Fürstenhof
The installation consists of a caravan covered in textiles, red threads, collages and manifestos that evoke the stories of Roma* ancestors and Holocaust survivors, but at the same time metaphorically evoke the iconography of the caravan as a collective space around which to tell the cultural and psychological heritage and memories of the diverse Roma* identities.
