DYPA is preparing a new employee training program for Artificial Intelligence – 2024-07-14 23:13:40

The goal for DYPA is the further professional training of Greek workers with an emphasis on technology, according to its director, Spyros Protopsaltis, who participated in Huawei’s Talent Summit held at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The head of the DYPA, speaking to journalists, underlined that the largest vocational training action is underway in Greece and pointed out that it will soon be enriched with a new program that will concern the use of artificial intelligence tools by employees, financed by the Recovery Fund.

We have secured the resources from the Recovery Fund with the aim of training 500,000 workers by 2025, emphasizing skills that will be needed in the coming years but also on categories of workers who are underrepresented, such as women in technology who have twice the unemployment rates .

More than 215,000 have been trained and certified and another 39,000 unemployed are in the program for the second cycle. In other words, we have reached regarding half of the goal, said Mr. Protopsaltis.

Asked regarding the fact that in Greece there is a large shortage of jobs in various sectors of the economy and not only, Mr. Protopsaltis attributed this to three reasons.

In the fact that for decades the education and training system was not interconnected with the needs of the economy and its branches, resulting in overproduction of specialties with low demand and underproduction of specialties with high demand.

It is also due to issues related to the geographical demand and supply of labor, as well as the lack of actions to disseminate information regarding the labor market. At this point, he referred to the Career days that DYPA has been organizing with great success for the last 3.5 years and which have already brought results.

DUPA-HUAWEI cooperation
It recently concluded with the organization of a special event, Huawei’s Women In Tech training program.

The Women In Tech program was implemented by the Public Employment Service (DYPA), as part of the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation with Huawei and Interlei, Huawei’s official educational partner. The program was addressed to 500 unemployed women aged 25-45, registered in the DYPA register and graduates of secondary, post-secondary and higher education.

The purpose of the memorandum of cooperation was to promote the cooperation of DYPA and Huawei to achieve the following goals:

To bridge the gap between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) knowledge and skills
To offer training and educational solutions to meet the demands of the industry in the ICT sector by offering specialized seminars in the field of routing and switching networks and the development of social skills of the workforce
To create an ecosystem of talent in the ICT industry and to support the existing ICT workforce and
To promote the training of unemployed women in the field of digital skills
Upon completion of the program, the beneficiaries acquired basic knowledge and skills required in the field of networks, as well as basic principles of routing, switching, wireless networking, network security, automation, etc.

In addition, upon completion of each thematic unit, all beneficiaries had the opportunity to take part in corresponding free exams that confirm their knowledge level, with the aim of joining the labor market.
