The dynamic recovery in electrical energy production, recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2023, would continue in Q3-2023, as suggested by the increase of 4.3% during the first two months of this quarter, following an increase of 1.3% in Q2-2023 and a decrease of 2.6% in Q1-2023. This is what emerges from the economic report for the month of October published by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.
Over the first eight months of the year, the production of electrical energy at the national level increased by 0.7%, following an increase of 2.9% the previous year. This progression, at the end of August 2023, is attributable to the improvement in concessional production of 4.2% and that of renewable energies relating to law 13-09 of 3.8%, attenuated by the withdrawal of production from ONEE by 9.4%, specifies the note. Concerning imported energy, its growth slowed to 39.3% at the end of August instead of 121.3% a year earlier.
As for the volume exported, it fell by 33.7%, however covering an increase of 32.4% for the first two months of the third quarter of 2023. Regarding the volume of energy called net, it is increased by 3.5% at the end of August 2023, following an increase of 5.8% at the end of August 2022.
For its part, the consumption of electrical energy accelerated to 5.6% for the first two months of the 3rd quarter of 2023, following an increase of 2.1% in Q2-2023 and 4.4% in Q1-2023. At the end of August, this consumption increased by 3.9%, following an increase of 5% a year earlier.
