In the podcast “What Now?” with Trevor Noah”, Johnson – known for example from the “Fast & Furious” film series – stated that at the end of 2022 he received a “visit” from representatives of parties who asked him whether he would run for the office of US President would or whether he “might” run for president, as he said.
“A big deal that came out of the blue,” Johnson said. The 51-year-old did not mention the parties that presented to him by name in the interview – he only spoke of “the parties”, which had come “one following the other” – but they were probably Democrats and Republicans.
“It’s all very surreal”
During the interviews, the parties presented him with “surveys” and “in-depth investigations” that were intended to “prove” his potential in a candidacy in the race once morest competitors, he said in the interview. “It was all very surreal because that was never my goal,” Johnson said. Johnson said his goal was never to go into politics because there was a lot regarding politics that he hated.

fueled speculation
Speculation regarding Johnson’s possible interest in a political career was fueled on the one hand by himself and subsequently also by a survey. In spring 2021, 46 percent of adults surveyed in the USA said they supported Johnson’s candidacy for president. His reaction didn’t stop the speculation, even if it was laced with plenty of irony.
“It would be an honor to serve you, the people,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. And in an interview with “USA Today” he followed up once more: “Really, I mean that and I am in no way being flippant with my answer,” as he said. The polls didn’t come out of the blue either, as Johnson had already indicated in 2016 that he would consider running for the 2020 presidential election.
“More time for daughters”
In the podcast, Johnson also brought his three daughters into play – following describing how the parties contacted them. His eldest daughter, now 22, was born at a time when the wrestling business was demanding a lot of his time – he barely had time for her. “I know what it means to have that separation and not be there,” Johnson said. He no longer wanted that for his younger two daughters, aged seven and five – he told the parties that.

Improvements to wax figure required
Most recently, a wax figure of Johnson became a major international issue: the Grevin wax figure museum in Paris unveiled a figure of Johnson that had significantly lighter skin than the actor. A fact that he himself commented on: “My team will be reaching out to our friends at the Grevin Museum in Paris so that we can ‘update’ my wax figure with some important details and improvements – starting with my skin color,” he shared via Instagram . The figure was eventually reworked.
