Dwayne Johnson outspoken regarding his ambitions towards Black Adam (2022) in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). He said he wanted to make Black Adam the introduction to a new era of the DCEU.
This is evidenced by the seven important characters from the DC universe who will appear in the film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
“There’s a narrative that we’ve stated, and we held that even when we were making films, that we wanted to usher in a new era in the DC Universe,” Johnson said at the Black Adam Global Press Conference, some time ago.
“The point is to introduce seven new characters, which is not an easy thing to do. There is a lot of balance that we have to account for,” he continued.
Black Adam is certain to be the moment of introduction to the seven superheroes and important characters of the DC Universe. They are Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Adrianna (Sarah Shahi), to Karim (Mo Amer).
In addition, this film will also be the debut of two legendary DC superheroes, namely Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge and Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan.
Johnson admits introducing seven characters in one film is a challenge in itself. He also considered that Black Adam needed to have a special style in the world of superhero films.
For this reason, the man who is familiarly called The Rock promises that Black Adam will present a unique story that is different from other superhero films.
“We all wanted to make a film that was different and unique in the world of the superhero genre that has been hugely successful for many years and led the business for more than a decade,” Johnson said.
“Everyone came and really wanted to make a great film, and once more, make something different.”
Black Adam follows the story of Teth-Adam (Dwayne Johnson), an antihero who gets powers from the Egyptian gods but is imprisoned for 5,000 years.
The character Black Adam is an antihero character who becomes the nemesis of Shazam (Zachary Levi). Freed from the mundane tomb, Black Adam prepares to fight for justice in the modern world.
The film was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Dwayne Johnson also joins as one of the producers, along with Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia.
Black Adam is slated to hit theaters on October 21.
