“I am very shocked, very touched by the departure of Jean-Michel Aulas and appalled by the method. I’ve been in the business for long enough to realize that it’s not something clear: we don’t announce like that, by press release, that Jean-Michel Aulas is no longer president of Olympique Lyonnais! We hold a press conference, we prepare for his departure with all the honors he deserves… The transition, we expected it but the way of doing things is brutal, in a weekend like that, I don’t like it. The president was still in a mission, they come to take it away from him all of a sudden, I am extremely appalled. I no longer work at OL but no one will stop me from supporting this club and I don’t like the direction the club is taking. The first signs sent by John Textor since taking over are not good, especially with these movements of players between clubs which he owns. The supporters are rather waiting for investments to bring OL back to the top. »

Over the years, you have been the pillar of the club, the cement that has united the players, the coaches and the supporters. You were the soul of the club (…) But you were much more than that. For many, you have been a surrogate father, a mentor, a friend. You were able to create a real community around this club, a family where everyone had their place and where everyone might flourish.
Certainly, we had moments of tension and disagreement. But that’s also what makes a man great: being able to overcome difficulties, face challenges and keep moving forward, always guided by the same passion for the ball.

“I didn’t expect him to leave so quickly, I would have thought more of the end of the season or the one following. What comes to mind when I think of Jean-Michel Aulas? This decade of glory in the 2000s, recognition of the work of training in Lyon. When I was at the club, I had very little contact with him, he was a very busy man, very close to the pros too. Sometimes I wondered if he knew me, I said to myself: ”We don’t see each other, we don’t speak to each other very much, I’m just a little guy in the middle of it all…” And then during a gathering , he came to greet me: ”So Armand, how is it going?” And there you say to yourself that in fact, he is aware of everything. He is an exceptional leader. »
