During the shooting of the Tamil film ‘Sardaar 2’, the stuntman collapsed and died

A stuntman lost his life following falling from a height of regarding 20 feet while shooting an action sequence of a Tamil film in the southern Indian city of Chennai.

According to reports, the stuntman, whose maiden name is Elumalai, fell from an elevated platform on July 16 while shooting for the Tamil film ‘Sardaar 2’ at LV Prasad Studios in Saligram.

After the accident, the shoot was immediately stopped and Elumalai was taken to a local hospital.

Local media reported that he suffered severe injuries and died of internal bleeding. He was 54 years old. The police have started investigating the incident.

After the accident, production house ‘Prince Pictures’ said in a statement: ‘We regret to report the death of Elumalai, a stunt union member who worked as a stunt rigman on the sets of our film ‘Sardar 2′.’

The statement added: ‘After filming a stunt sequence we were wrapping up the day’s shoot when Elumalai accidentally fell off the 20ft rostrum and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby multi-specialty hospital where a team of doctors treated him, however, despite best medical treatment, Ilumalai unfortunately passed away on July 16, 2024 at around 11.30 pm.’

Sardar 2 is the sequel to the 2022 blockbuster film Sardar. It stars Tamil actor Karthik Sivakumar popularly known as Karthi in the lead role. The film is directed by PS Mithran.

Tamil media shared a video of Karthi condoling with Elumalai’s family in Chennai on Wednesday evening, who also offered them financial support.

Not much is known regarding the story of Sardar 2.

Skool’s debut film Sardar, which tells the story of a spy who is estranged from his family, was a smash hit at the box office. The film grossed $12 million worldwide making it one of the highest grossing Tamil films of 2022.
