During the BitSummit event held this Saturday in Kyoto, the PlayStation team announced the spiritual successor to the rhythm-action simulator Potapon – Ratatan:

Here’s what we know

The project is developed by the creator of Potapon, Hiroyuki Kotani, and the same musician, Kemmei Adachi, is responsible for the audio part. The game will be fully funded through Kickstarter, and the campaign is set to launch on July 31.

The original Poptapon game was released for PlayStation Portable in 2007. It was a two-dimensional rhythm platformer with action elements in which players controlled an army of adorable anthropomorphic characters, the “Potapons”.

At one time, the game received two sequels for the PSP, as well as a re-release for the PlayStation 4.
