CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Duncan Robinson made five 3-pointers and scored 24 points, Kevin Love came off the bench with a season-high 19 points and the Miami Heat neutralized the great game by Charlotte’s Terry Rozier to beat the Hornets 116-114 on Monday.
Jimmy Butler added 23 points and eight assists and Caleb Martin had 20 points and nine rebounds for Miami, which had just lost five of its last seven. Mexican Jamie Jáquez contributed 18 points before leaving early due to an accumulation of fouls.
Rozier scored 34 points with eight 3-pointers for the Hornets, but his shot from midcourt at the final buzzer hit the backboard and went wide.
Miami led for most of the game and led by 12 points entering the fourth quarter before the Hornets quickly closed the gap, getting within one with 6:51 left.
The game was give and take until the end.
Butler made two free throws with 4.3 seconds left. The Hornets had one last chance. But without time, they had to take the ball from the back and Rozier’s shot was impossible.
