Oilers aim for sixth straight win

The Edmonton Oilers will look for a sixth straight win when they visit the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, CITY, ESPN+, SN NOW).

The Oilers’ strong streak began Jan. 11 with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, and Edmonton has outscored its opponents 27-11 on the scoresheet in the past five games.

The Kraken takes on the Avalanche

It’s probably no surprise that one of the teams in the duel between the Colorado Avalanche and the Seattle Kraken, who will face off at Climate Pledge Arena (10 p.m. ET; ROOT-NW, ALT, ESPN+, SN NOW), takes first place in its section. In fact, the surprise is that this team is the Kraken rather than the Avalanche.

Seattle just defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in overtime on Thursday, and with a record of 27-14-4, the team sits atop the Pacific Division. They have won nine of their last 11 games, and their 27 wins equal their total from last season, their first in the NHL.

Colorado (23-17-3) has won its last four games, a season high, including a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. The defending Stanley Cup champions, however, are plagued by injuries and are in the thick of the chase for a playoff berth.

Nathan MacKinnon needs a point to reach the 700 career mark (255 goals, 444 assists). He will then become the first player drafted in 2013 to reach this mark. He has 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) over a seven-game point streak, including at least two points in each of his last five games with the Avalanche.

Capitals reminiscing in Las Vegas

Every visit to T-Mobile Arena brings back fond memories for the Washington Capitals, who won their first championship there by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 5 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals.

Although their roster has changed significantly since then, the Capitals are looking forward to their home visit to the Golden Knights (10 p.m. ET; ATTSN-RM, NBCSWA, ESPN+, SN NOW), especially the champion players who are still on the team – them Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, T.J. Oshie, Tom Wilson, Dmitry Orlov et Lars Eller.

If Washington won two of the three meetings in Las Vegas during this final, the team has still not won there in the regular season (0-3-1) since the Golden Knights entered the NHL in 2017- 18. That might change Saturday though, as the Capitals (25-17-6) have won nine of their last 10 road games and the Golden Knights (28-16-2) are 13-13-0 at the House. They have lost their last three meetings in Las Vegas.

The Capitals are continuing a three-game road trip following starting it off on the right foot with a 4-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. Vegas is playing the last of seven games at home, having gone 2-4-0 in the first six meetings. – Tom Gulitti, NHL.com Reporter
