The causes of the price rise

Sources from the national terminals explained, on the other hand, that the industry has been increasing its prices month by month between 4 and 7 depending on the range of models.

In this sense, the president of one of the best-selling brands in the local market explained that not only must the evolution of the dollar be taken as a reference -because although models produced in the country have a great integration of imported parts- but that in the last year there has been an increase in supplies and logistics.

In this regard, he gave as an example the exponential jump of some raw materials such as aluminum, which multiplied its international value since the middle of last year in a trend formed by the increase in demand due to the increase in production following the peak of the pandemic and which was deepened by effect of the war in Ukraine.

Something similar has been happening with logistics, for which the exponential increase in the cost of the container is taken as a reference, an added cost either to the importation of vehicles finished as the auto parts required by the entire industry.

To this was added the pandemic that was also felt in the fall in supply and the rise in prices in semiconductors -present in all vehicles with growing electronic and digital components-, which caused producers to turn to the high-end segment. range, above less advanced chips.
