Books – Mustafa Hamza:
In conjunction with the song “3 Hours in a Row” entering the most viewed lists on YouTube, the head of the Musical Professions Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, issued a new statement regarding the union’s position.
The head of the Syndicate of Musical Professions, in a statement issued today, Tuesday, said: “Peace be upon you, and may our beloved Egypt and our Arab world be well on the occasion of the new year 2024. I send to your Excellency some of what has been on my mind since yesterday.”
He continued, “All the news that is being circulated in the name of the Musical Professions Syndicate regarding the artist Ruby, and regarding this artistic work, is completely false, despite the reservations of some members of the Board of Directors regarding some of the artist’s previous actions. Since my entry into the Syndicate, I have established a solid and stable situation, which is a thoughtful collective decision. The conditions of the union have changed completely and partially, and all matters are presented to the entire Board of Directors, then the decision it intends to take is studied, and when the union finds it necessary to intervene and activate its role to preserve public taste and societal values, the intervention is deliberate, and what has caused this confusion regarding this artistic work is the large number of Journalist colleagues contacted and sent messages stating that there was a song released by the artist Ruby bearing the phrases (I long for you, I long for you, woooo).”
He added, “My response to only one fellow journalist was to find out what the issue was and I would send it to the Council to discuss it and take the necessary action, but I was surprised that this response came out as if it were news, which greatly upset me.”
Regarding the song, he said, “What caught my attention following I and my fellow council members entered the link for the song is that we found that the song had been released only half an hour before these messages and communications were sent, and as one of the song makers for 33 years, and I know the tools for making the song.” The media hype, I cannot find an explanation for this except that it is good planning by some to create confusion and false propaganda, but when some plan for this goal by inserting my name, my title, and an entity the size of the Musical Professions Syndicate, this is something inappropriate, and I have not and will not allow it at all throughout my time in this seat. “.
Mustafa continued: “Since I assumed the position of General Syndicate, along with my fellow members of the Board of Directors, it has carried upon itself clear and declared goals to the public, including trying to purify the artistic and musical climate and preserve societal values and constants as much as possible, which is essentially not our role. It is the first, basic, and main responsibility of this.” The matter is the censorship apparatus for works, the investigations of artistic works, and the authorities responsible for licensing artistic works, and I demand that everyone must return them as soon as possible, otherwise we are in a harsh and painful danger with dire consequences.”
He explained, “My intervention many times, and the intervention of the entire Council, is an intervention that stems solely from a feeling of love and adoration for our beloved country and with the aim of protecting the members of society from the impurities that affect their mind and thought so that they do not grow old and gray in depravity and emotional decadence.”
In his statement, Mustafa Kamel demanded that the name of the Syndicate of Musical Professions not be involved in disputes that have no value or benefit.
The statement issued today, Tuesday, is the second issued by the head of the Musical Professions Syndicate, the artist Mustafa Kamel, with the escalation of the controversy surrounding “3 Hours Straight,” the song presented by the artist Ruby, and the spread of news of statements stating that the Syndicate’s Council held an emergency meeting.
Artist Mustafa Kamel, “Captain of the Musical Professions Syndicate,” in a press statement issued yesterday, Monday, announced that he had not taken a decision regarding the union’s meeting regarding the song “3 Hours Straight,” which the artist Ruby presented yesterday, and which sparked some controversy on social media, as some circulated, in The status of holding a meeting will be announced immediately, and everything that is being circulated regarding holding a meeting and conference regarding the song is incorrect.
The song was written and composed by Aziz Al-Shafi’i, arranged by Touma, and released on the official channel of the artist Ruby, via YouTube.
