Airlines increase capacity for Tet
Recently, people’s need to return home to celebrate Tet by air has been increasing. Some flight routes are in a state of scarcity and have run out of air tickets.
Dan Viet’s survey shows that many flight routes from Ho Chi Minh City to localities such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Quy Nhon… are very tense. Many routes have “sold out” tickets from December 23 to December 30.
Due to high demand from people, while the supply of air tickets is limited, ticket prices are increasing rapidly, with many routes increasing day by day. Accordingly, Tet airfare prices are 2-3 times higher than normal days. Some routes cost up to nearly 7-10 million VND/round-trip ticket.
In the coming days, the domestic aviation market is forecast to welcome a “huge” number of passengers. The Vietnam Aviation Administration said that during the upcoming Tet peak, domestic airlines will operate and supply regarding 5.5 million tickets throughout the domestic flight network.
In addition, to enhance serving the travel needs of people, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has adjusted the slot coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat airport to help Vietnamese airlines increase 48 slots/day, equivalent to About 10,000 seats/day at Tan Son Nhat go to localities. From there, it contributes to relieve the scarcity of air tickets for Tet, meeting the travel needs of people.
On the airline side, units are also actively increasing passenger service capacity. Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) said it will provide a total of 2.86 million seats during the Tet peak across the domestic and international flight network. To give passengers more options when booking tickets on this occasion, Vietnam Airlines Group has sharply increased the number of flights in the early morning and at night with more than 1,300 flights.
In addition, to ensure resources to serve the Tet peak and better meet the increased travel needs of passengers, Vietnam Airlines increased 4 wet-leased Airbus A320 aircraft, adding nearly 1,000 flights for this occasion. . The booster aircraft can accommodate 180 passengers.

Another representative, Bamboo Airways, also added 2 aircraft to serve the peak period of Lunar New Year.
