According to weather forecasters, heavy snowfall is expected in the capital on Monday followingnoon, which will last until Tuesday. More information regarding the weather for tomorrow – HERE
As the municipality notes, ice and snow drifts will form on the roads and visibility will deteriorate, so there may be traffic difficulties in the center of the capital. All municipal services and available equipment will be involved in cleaning roads and sidewalks, however, in order to facilitate road cleaning and reduce possible traffic jams, residents are encouraged to use public transport as much as possible.
The municipality believes that most cars are already equipped with summer tires, so the Riga municipality urges residents to be especially careful, to the extent possible, choose to work remotely, travel by public transport or plan the time and route of departure in advance, taking into account that the journey may take longer than usually.
On Monday, a passenger car registration certificate or vehicle registration certificate will be considered a valid document for traveling on public transport. You must not have your driver’s license with you.
Attention! Heavy snowfall is possible in Riga on Monday, April 22, which will continue until Tuesday. As a result, “snow tickets” will be introduced and drivers will be able to use public transport for free on Monday. More: pic.twitter.com/9zfyMBu38m
