A statement from Toyota said that around 751,000 models of the Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid must be recalled due to a problem with the mounting tabs on the vehicles’ bumpers, which might cause parts to come off.
According to the company said in a press release, the recall applies to some models from 2020 to 2023.
According to Toyota, the impacted vehicles have front lower bumper covers made of resin, connected with mounting tabs. Minor impacts to the front bumper lower cover can cause the mounting tabs to detach from the vehicle while driving, which might cause a crash.
What is Toyota doing regarding it?
In addition to issuing the recall, Toyota said its dealers will inspect the front bumper upper and lower cover mounting tabs and slots for damage.
If no damage is found, dealers will install retaining hardware with “an improved design,” Toyota said.
If there is damage, dealers will replace the upper and lower cover of the front bumper and install retaining hardware with a better design for free, the company said.
Toyota plans to inform affected customers by December.
