2023-11-17 15:40:11

To take stock of the duck vaccination campaign once morest avian flu, the prefect of Dordogne Jean-Sébastien Lamontagne visited this Friday, November 17, the foie gras duck farm of Flore Boyer, who has been producing them since 2001 in Beauregard -et-Bassac.

Its 4,000 ducklings received their first dose. Hope for this farmer, struck by avian flu in April 2022. Ultimately, the widespread vaccination of the 160 farms in Dordogne, with more than 250 ducks, should sign the end of preventive slaughter of poultry in the affected area, in the event of a reappearance of the virus. Only animals from the affected farm would be slaughtered. Neighboring farms would be spared, provided that their animals are vaccinated.

Nowadays, 250,000 ducks received their first dose of vaccine in Dordogneand a little over 50,000 the second and last.
