Dubai > RTA with road development plan to reduce travel time from Dubai to Sharjah. According to the project, the traffic distance and time from Garn Al Sabqa Street to Al Qusais and Sharjah to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road will be reduced by 40 percent. Travel time will be reduced from 20 minutes to 12 minutes during peak hours. The travel time for vehicles from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road to Al Yalais Road in the direction of Jebel Ali Port will be reduced from 21 minutes to 7 minutes. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the contract for the Garn Al Sabqa Street Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project. The project covers the construction of four bridges over a length of 3000 meters with a capacity to carry 17,600 vehicles per hour. The budget for the project is 374 million dirhams. The project was commissioned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. Road infrastructure development continues to keep pace with Dubai’s booming profile and accommodate the demands of urban development and population growth. The project is part of a larger initiative to improve the Garn Al Sabqa Street corridor. It also aims to ensure smooth flow of traffic between Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, First Al Khail Street and Al Asael Street. Read on deshabhimani.com
