Dubai ∙ Dubai Metro’s Blue Line project, which has brought revolutionary changes to Dubai’s public transport sector, has been approved. The Blue Line project, which will be built at a total cost of 18 billion dirhams, was approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The Blueline project is spread over a length of 30 km. Half of it extends underground up to 70 meters deep. The project is set to transform the city’s public transport network, serving the needs of nearly one million people.

∙ Blue Line: Major Centers
The route is designed to serve key areas including Dubai Creek Marina, Festival City, International City, Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Mirdif and urban centers such as Silicon Oasis and Academic City.

∙ Heart line of Dubai
It is expected to facilitate daily travel for 320,000 new passengers. It blends seamlessly with the lives of city dwellers. Established in 2009, Dubai Metro is an integral part of the city. It also connects communities in neighboring emirates. With over 2 billion users till date, Metro is not only a mode of transport but also a lifeline connecting the heart of the city. It is hoped that the Blue Line route, which is expected to serve billions of people in the decades to come, will continue this legacy as per Sheikh Mohammed’s vision.

∙ The wonder of modern transportation
The Blue Line will be a major architectural feature, including the largest underground station in the International City area at 44,000 square meters. A marvel of modern transportation. The project includes the first train crossing over the creek, the first interchange station connecting the Red and Blue Lines at Centerpoint Station, and the first interchange station between the Green and Blue Lines at Creek Station. Built to LEAD (the most widely used green building rating system, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications (Platinum category). An iconic station with a unique architectural design will also differentiate the Blue Line. The Dubai Metro Blue Line construction project will be developed in phases, with the tender in 2023, project award in 2024, and tunnel boring starting in 2025. Official operation will begin in 2029.

The Blue Line will expand Dubai’s total rail network to 131 km with 78 stations and operate 168 trains. The landmark project is expected to serve one million people by 2040, further cementing Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for innovation and connectivity.
