Mansour bin Mohammed witnessed the closing ceremony of the award in its 27th session
Dubai: “The Gulf”
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, the twenty-seventh session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award was concluded on Saturday evening.
The closing ceremony of the award witnessed the coronation of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, as the Islamic Personality of the Year for this session, in honor and appreciation of her efforts and clear imprints in Islamic, humanitarian, charitable and social work.
This came in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, where His Highness, along with the attendees at the closing ceremony held on Saturday evening, at the headquarters of the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai, followed a screening of a documentary film regarding the Islamic figure, Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint. Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, as the film highlighted some of her achievements and efforts in charitable and humanitarian work, and her distinction in giving, serving and caring for the Book of God, and encouraging young people to learn it, memorize it, and contemplate its meanings.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed honored the Islamic Personality of the Year, as His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the award on behalf of Her Highness.
He also honored the members of the competition’s jury and the winners of the first ten places: Mohammed Adnan Al-Omari, from the Kingdom of Bahrain, who won first place. Second place was achieved by Naji Bin Sulaiman, from Libya. Sheikh Tejan Saleh Ambi, from the Gambia, and Mazhar Shuaib Bittu, from the Philippines, achieved third place once more. Mohamed Bouhasson, from France, won fifth place. The sixth is Yassin bin Nasr bin Al-Ghulam, from Tunisia. The seventh is Jalal Hamdi Othman, from Yemen. The eighth place was repeated by Ahmed Khabib Sahi, from Italy, and Obaidallah Boubacar Anjou, from Niger. The tenth is Anas Raimi, from Benin. Memorial photos were taken for His Highness with all the competition participants.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid said on the “X” platform: “I was honored to attend the closing ceremony of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, and to crown Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, as the Islamic Personality of the Year, in appreciation of her great efforts in Islamic work and serving the Book of God. And its support for pioneering charitable and social projects, and His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed bin Rashid received the award on behalf of Her Highness. During the ceremony, we also honored the members of the jury and the winners of the first ten places in this competition, which Dubai is proud to host during the month of Ramadan over 27 sessions.”
The closing ceremony began with a fragrant recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the two contestants, Naji Attia Ben Sulaiman, from Libya, and Mohamed Hassoun, from France. Then the attendees watched a short film regarding the award harvest during the year 2023.
Dr. Saeed Abdullah Hareb, Vice Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, delivered the award speech, on behalf of Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, in which he extended his sincere thanks to the sponsor of this award, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He praised the selection of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, the Islamic figure for this session, because of her great role in serving Islam and Muslims, by printing the Qur’an, building mosques, sponsoring orphans, facilitating Hajj, caring for women, and many charitable works.
Excellence in giving
He said, “We meet with you once more on an occasion for the sake of occasions. Here we are meeting in the twenty-seventh session, to listen to the contestants who came from various countries to compete in memorizing and reciting the Book of God and to delight our ears with the most beautiful recitations and sweetest voices. This would not have been possible without the grace of God, first.” Then support and assistance from our wise leadership. The award always seeks to honor everyone who serves Islam and Muslims, and God Almighty has enabled us this year to choose Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the Islamic figure for this session, because of her clear imprints in the Islamic, humanitarian, charitable and social fields, and her distinction in giving and serving the Book of God. And nurturing it and encouraging young people to learn it, memorize it, and contemplate its meanings, hence her choice to be the Islamic Personality of the Year.”
He stressed that “the award spares no effort in striving to encourage Muslim children to memorize the Book of God, and we were pleased this year with a blessed group of our children who competed in memorizing the Book of God, and we extend our congratulations to these memorizers for what they have accomplished, as they are all winners and excellers, so they have our sincere congratulations, asking God.” May God Almighty grant them success in their academic and practical lives. We extend our sincere thanks to the sponsor of this award, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. We also thank the honorable members of the distinguished jury, and everyone who supported us in this and other sessions, especially the sponsors who contribute with us every year. Thanks go to the brothers working on the award and the volunteers from among our children to serve the Book of God.”
The closing ceremony was also attended by a number of senior officials, members of the award’s organizing committee, members of the international jury, guests, and parents of the contestants.
