Dubai ∙ The International Boat Show has started at Dubai Harbor, where the world’s leading yachts and new vessels of various boat manufacturers are lined up. About two hundred boats and a thousand brands are the stars of the fair. Yacht manufacturers including UAE’s own ‘Gulf Craft’ are also participating in the fair.
Each yacht is like a 5 star suite on the beach. A luxury that millionaires can’t afford. There are even those who buy new yachts every year. A spacious living room, a luxurious bedroom, sitting and reclining areas to enjoy the sea views and so on are the amenities on board the yachts. Apart from boats, the fair also has marine wear, fishing equipment, ski boards, snorkeling equipment and other products related to marine entertainment. Also, new technologies and trends in water transport will be introduced here.
Negotiations and contract-fixing between sellers and buyers mainly take place in the fair. As yachts have a crucial place in the tourism sector, big tourism companies have also come here. World’s leading divers have also been a part of the show. There will also be a performance of rescue workers wearing flying suits and flying over the sea.
Boat companies from 55 countries are part of the fair. Austria, Finland, Sweden and South Korea are participating for the first time this year. UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum opened the boat show to the public. Entry fee is 60 dirhams.
Public access is today from 3 pm to 8 pm, tomorrow and the day following from 3 pm to 9 pm and on the closing day, March 3, from 3 pm to 8 pm. Meanwhile, owner Abdullah bin Habtoor told mediapersons that Dubai Harbor will become a permanent venue for international boat shows.

UAE’s own Gulf Craft has brought 15 yachts to the exhibition. Most of the yachts and accessories manufactured in the UAE are built for the foreign market. Gulf Craft owners said that 70% of their products are sold in foreign markets.
