DTVM considers the creation of the Electronic Invoice for gold in Brazil to be a step forward

According to the special secretary of the Federal Revenue, Robinson Sakiyama Barreirinhas, the agency will require the use of electronic invoices during the acquisition of gold. The Federal Government and other public bodies are studying the implementation of this system.

The new model is being created to monitor the transactions carried out and aims to guarantee the traceability of the gold and prevent the illegal sale of the metal.

According to Carlos Henrique, Executive Director of Compliance at OM DTVM (Ourominas), the first acquisition, by Financial Institutions authorized to operate with gold, is constantly audited by an independent company and, in the exercise of its legal competence, supervised by the Central Bank do Brasil (BACEN) and, with the implementation of the Electronic Invoice, the first acquisition will gain greater traceability, protection and, above all, control.

The process is still being studied and requires a lot of attention from public agencies, the idea of the Federal Revenue is to make this measure binding later this year and allow for the evolution in the inspection system of prospecting and mining.

Carlos concludes by pointing out that this and other measures once morest the illegal sale of gold, such as the national registration of the first buyer promoted by ANM – National Mining Agency through Resolution No. 103, of April 20, 2022 and the Gold Library (Ouroteca), created by the Technical-Scientific Directorate of the Federal Police in Brasilia, will allow for a socioeconomic advance for the sector and, above all, contribute to the fight once morest illegal mining.

The Ouroteca is a kind of library that will gather varieties of gold that exist in Brazil and other countries in South America, and will be used to map the origin of the metal and prevent illegal extraction.
