A Vielsalm resident was sentenced on Monday by the Eupen criminal court to 100 hours of community service. On December 22, 2021, he fled in a police vehicle during a police check carried out in Bullange.
The defendant, who was under the influence of alcohol, had lost control of his vehicle in a roundregarding in Bullange. When the police wanted to subject him to a blood alcohol test, the 30-year-old asked for the legal deadline before blowing. During this time, he took the opportunity to get into a parked police vehicle and flee.
“He drove for two kilometers before being intercepted by a second police vehicle. The defendant indicated that he had health problems requiring medication. He was taken to Saint-Vith hospital. During the transfer, he urinated in the wetsuit”, said the prosecutor.
“After being examined, he refused to walk to the suit. He had to be carried by the police.” He was then insulting the police officers. The defendant was found guilty of all charges, including the theft of use which he contested. He is sentenced to 100 hours of work. He will also have to pay a fine of 400 euros.
