Asuncion, IP Agency.- An operational contingent of the Intelligence Directorate of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat and Special Forces, in cooperation with the Paraguayan Air Force, was established in the area of the Paso Bravo National Park, in the department of Concepción. It is to deactivate approximately 15 clandestine airstrips, as well as marijuana production bases in the area, which in recent years has become a strategic point for the actions of organized crime.

These operations are carried out in continuation of Operation Bravo I and have the support of the Directorate of War Material for the detonation of clandestine runways, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, within the framework of the protection of the important natural reserve affected by drug trafficking.

In this context, during the first day of raids, two clandestine airstrips were destroyed by means of detonations; 6 hectares of marijuana crops were eradicated and two precarious camps were dismantled.

Near the runways, they found barrels of aviation fuel, as well as other evidence of frequent illegal air operations in the area.
