Moncler, Casa de Papel, Satan Sinner, Tikkie Prikkie or the Panama pills. So many names of drugs that were seized from more than 130 revelers during the electronic music festival Extrema Outdoor, organized in Houthalen-Helchteren in Limburg last weekend. Five dealers were also arrested by the police present on the spot.
For the occasion, a mini-laboratory for the analysis of hard drugs has been set up on the site by the National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology (INCC). This mobile laboratory uses relatively simple detection techniques, making it possible to know the level of danger of the product in just 15 seconds, and then to warn the police of the presence of potentially very dangerous drugs.
During the festival, drugs are confiscated, examined and, if necessary, warnings are sent to festival-goers and on LED screens or via social media channels. “Attention ! Extremely dangerous ecstasy pills are circulating in the festival. Please be careful and never use them”, thus commented the organization on its social networks during the three days of the festival.
Laboratory analyzes make it possible to define the dose of drug present in a pill. If the limit of 178 milligrams is exceeded, then it is a high-dose drug and the Limburg public prosecutor’s office is informed immediately.

Besides, another extremely strong drug is in vogue at festivals. This is the pill called Mario Bros, pink in color. The Limburg public prosecutor’s office and the police warn festival-goers about this pill which cost the life of a 50-year-old person two years ago, still during the Extrema Outdoor. “The pill contains approximately 300 milligrams of MDMA, which is four times higher than a normal ecstasy pill”explains the spokesperson for the Limburg public prosecutor’s office.

Limburg is considered one of the hubs of synthetic drug trafficking. Obtaining it remains simple despite the efforts made by the police to curb the phenomenon. “On average, two synthetic drug manufacturing laboratories are dismantled there every month. The fight against the production of synthetic drugs has been a priority for the federal police for years. The PJF exchanges information through the Europol channel and participates in many contact points in this context”concludes the Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne.
