DRUG ABUSE IN TOAMASINA

A hiding place, a meeting place for drug-addicted girls and boys, was discovered in Toamasina. The owner and sixty minors were arrested there on Thursday evening.

Delinquency and abuse of psychoactive substances. This scourge increasingly affects young people and minors in the city of Toamasina, leading to crime. Thursday evening, in the district of Antanamakoa, sixty people under the age of 18 alcoholic and drug addicts were picked up in a bistro which is in fact their hiding place.
Aware of the offenses that abound, the gendarmerie has intensified patrol day and night. The exploitation of information resulted in the discovery of the bar. This place brought together girls and boys who made ample libations until the evening. They are only 12 to 17 years old. Their drinks would be mixed with drugs whose repetitive consumption will of course cause a psychic dependence. The gendarmes surprised the children drinking and smoking. The bar was immediately temporarily closed and its owner boarded. He was taken into police custody until the investigation was completed and the case transferred to the prosecution of the local court of first instance.

Victims

While waiting for their interrogation, the minors were subjected to a medical examination. The drinks, cigarette packets and various accessories confiscated at the time of the arrest will be analyzed in the laboratory, a scientific expertise which the investigation will need. “Recently, some boys formed an association of delinquents in Toamasina. The gendarmerie is obliged to take its responsibilities to find out the reason and to redress society… We always remember that the consumption of drugs favors the resurgence of acts of banditry and rape, ”communicates the national gendarmerie. A few days ago, three innocent girls were sexually assaulted by “Gool Den Team”, a group of violent and armed youths. The three fellows at the head of this criminal squad have been captured. “For parents and neighbors, give our children a good education, watch them so that they do not deviate”, encourages the gendarmerie.
