Drought: the national government approves the agricultural emergency in 800 thousand hectares of Córdoba

The Ministry of Economy of the Nation resolved to standardize the provincial decree of emergency and agricultural disaster for producers affected by the drought.

Through a resolution, which would be published this Friday in the official gazette, the Ministry declared a state of emergency and/or agricultural disaster, as appropriate, from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023, to agricultural, forestry and fruit and vegetable farms affected by drought in the areas that have been delimited using the criteria of geo-referenced polygons, in accordance with the Sole Annex of Provincial Decree No. 136 dated February 9, 2023.

Through the Ministry of Agriculture of Córdoba, the Province had presented to the National Commission for Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters the Provincial Decree No. 136 dated February 9, 2023, for the purposes of applying the benefits provided for in Law No. 26,509 and its amendments.

The Government of Córdoba declared a state of emergency and/or agricultural disaster to an area of ​​more than 800,000 hectares, which includes the south of the San Justo department, north of Marcos Juárez and Unión, and northwest of General San Martín.

The agricultural emergency includes the affectation from 50 to 80% in the production of an agricultural establishment, while the figure of the agricultural disaster is for those farms where the degree of affectation exceeds 80%.

In the case of an agricultural emergency, the benefits contemplate the deferral of provincial and national taxes, for the duration, while the disaster provides for the exemption of taxes for the same period.

Córdoba had made the presentation to the authorities of the Nation in conjunction with other provinces that joined the call to survey the situation in each of their districts. Participated: Buenos Aires, Misiones, Mendoza, La Pampa and Santiago del Estero.

In order to qualify for the benefits, the producers included in the provincial decree must submit a certificate issued by the competent authority of the province, stating that their properties or farms are included in the cases provided for in said article.

In addition, the provincial government will send the list of producers to the Executive Technical Secretariat of the National Commission for Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters, accompanied by a copy of the emergency certificate issued by the competent provincial authority.

The national, official or mixed banking institutions and Afip will arbitrate the necessary means so that the producers included in the resolution enjoy the benefits provided for in articles 22 and 23 of Law No. 26,509 and its amendments.

The national approval extends the benefits granted by the declaration of provincial emergency, as is the case of the extension or tax exemptionand access to different credit tools that can be implemented from the official benches.
